What is Sidr soap?
Sidr soap is a bar soap made with sidr leaf powder — the dried, ground leaves of the sidr or lote tree (also called ber or beri ke patte; Arabic سدر, Urdu بیری). The leaves have been used for centuries to cleanse hair and skin, and are mentioned in the Qur'an and the Sunnah. Our bar is cold-pressed, halal and fragrance-optional, made for daily hair and body use.
Sidr Leaves in Islam: The Sidr Tree in the Qur'an, Hadith & Tibb-e-Nabawi
In the Qur'an: the sidr (lote) tree is mentioned in Surah Al-Waqi'ah (56:28), where the people of the right hand are among thornless lote trees, and as Sidrat al-Muntaha, the lote tree at the farthest boundary, in Surah An-Najm (53:14).
In Hadith: the Prophet ﷺ told Qays ibn 'Asim, when he accepted Islam, to wash with water and sidr (Sunan Abi Dawud, Tirmidhi, Nasa'i). Sidr is also mentioned for washing the deceased in Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim, which is why sidr leaves have long been part of purification practice in Muslim homes.
In Tibb-e-Nabawi: sidr (ber) leaves are described in traditional Prophetic and Unani medicine texts as a natural cleanser for the scalp, hair and skin. Our soap carries that tradition into a modern, cold-pressed bar. It is a Sunnah-inspired personal-care product, not a medicine.
Made Slow, On Purpose
Most commercial soaps are made with high heat, which strips away natural vitamins and antioxidants from the oils and butters. This Sidr soap is cold-pressed instead — a slower process that keeps the ingredients gentle and nourishing.

Sidr Soap — Your Questions, Answered
What is Sidr soap?
Sidr soap is a bar soap made with sidr leaf powder — the leaves of the sidr (lote) tree, also called ber or beri ke patte. Ours is a cold-pressed, halal, 2-in-1 hair and body bar made with coconut, olive and almond oils and shea, cocoa and mango butters.
What is Sidr and where does it come from?
Sidr (Ziziphus) — also known as the lote tree — grows across the Middle East, Arabia, North Africa and South Asia, and is mentioned in the Qur'an. Its leaves have been used for centuries as a natural cleanser for skin and hair. Read the full story on our blog →
Is lote tree the same as Sidr?
Yes. "Lote tree", "lote leaf" and "lote-tree" are the common English renderings of the Arabic word sidr in the Qur'an. In Urdu and Hindi the leaves are called beri ke patte (بیری کے پتے). Sidr, lote and ber leaves all refer to the plant used in this soap.
Is Sidr mentioned in the Qur'an and Hadith?
Yes. The Qur'an mentions the sidr (lote) tree in Surah Al-Waqi'ah (56:28) among the trees of Paradise, and Sidrat al-Muntaha in Surah An-Najm (53:14). In authentic hadith, the Prophet ﷺ instructed a man who had just accepted Islam to wash with water and sidr (reported in Sunan Abi Dawud, Tirmidhi and Nasa'i), and sidr is mentioned for washing the deceased in Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim.
Is Sidr powder for hair mentioned in Islam?
Washing with water and sidr is reported in authentic hadith (Sunan Abi Dawud, Tirmidhi, Nasa'i), and sidr leaves have long been used in Muslim homes to wash hair and body. That is why many families use sidr leaf powder for hair and skin, and why this soap is made with the same leaf. See our Sidr Leaf Powder (beri ke patte) for the pure-leaf version.
Is Sidr soap part of Tibb-e-Nabawi (Prophetic medicine)?
Sidr leaves are widely discussed in Tibb-e-Nabawi and traditional Unani literature as a cleansing ingredient for the scalp, hair and skin. Our soap is Sunnah-inspired: it brings that traditional ingredient into a modern, cold-pressed bar. It is a personal-care product, not a medicine.
Is Sidr soap good for hair, dandruff and itchy scalp?
Sidr leaves have traditionally been used to cleanse the scalp and calm irritation, and this bar is made for both hair and body, so many customers use it in a dandruff or itchy-scalp routine. Results vary from person to person. For a diagnosed scalp condition, please consult a dermatologist.
What is the difference between Sidr soap and Sidr leaf powder?
The soap is a ready-to-use bar for daily hair and body washing. The Sidr Leaf Powder is the pure ground leaf, used as a weekly face mask, hair paste or ghusl add-on. Many customers use both: soap daily and powder once a week.
Why does cold-pressing matter for this soap?
Cold-pressing makes soap without high heat, which helps preserve the natural vitamins, antioxidants and fatty acids in oils like olive, coconut and almond that heat-processed soaps often destroy — resulting in a gentler, more nourishing bar.
What's the difference between the two variants?
Both use the same natural, cold-pressed Sidr formula. One has a light natural fragrance for everyday use, while the Hajj & Umrah variant is completely fragrance-free, suitable for use in the state of Ihram.
Can I use Sidr soap during Hajj and Umrah (Ihram)?
Yes — choose the Hajj & Umrah (fragrance-free) variant. It contains no added fragrance, which is why pilgrims in Ihram choose it.
Is it suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes — it's formulated to be gentle and free from harsh chemicals, parabens and alcohol. If you have a diagnosed skin condition, we recommend consulting your dermatologist before use.
Is this Sidr soap halal and free from chemicals?
Yes. It is halal certified and made without alcohol, parabens or harsh chemicals. The full ingredient list (INCI) is shown on this page.
