What Maryam Phool Is — and How It Works
The plant: Anastatica hierochuntica is a small desert plant of the mustard family (Brassicaceae), found in the arid regions of North Africa and the Middle East. In drought its branches curl inward into a tight ball; when water arrives they unfold again. That is why it is called the resurrection plant.
The name: in popular tradition the plant is linked with Maryam (peace be upon her) and with ease in childbirth, which is where the names Maryam Phool and Kaff Maryam come from. That link comes from folk tradition, not from the Qur'an or Sunnah.
Traditional use: in folk medicine across the Arab world and South and Southeast Asia, kaff Maryam has been used by women around pregnancy and childbirth, and it has been studied in published reviews. Research so far describes its constituents and some lab and animal findings; it does not prove any benefit in people, so we make no medical promises.
What Islam Says About Maryam Phool
Maryam Phool is not mentioned in the Qur'an or in authentic hadith, and it is not part of Tibb-e-Nabawi in the sense of a plant the Prophet ﷺ prescribed. We say this plainly so you can decide with full information.
Scholarly sources such as IslamQA state that the belief that the flower opening near a pregnant woman makes childbirth easier has no basis in Islam, and that our reliance is on Allah alone, together with proper medical care. Keeping the flower as a reminder of hope and patience, or using a plant as a herbal remedy where it is safe, is a separate matter. This is why we sell Maryam Phool as a traditional keepsake and folk herb, not as a cure or a religious requirement.

Maryam Phool is traditionally associated with uterine activity and labour. This is traditional-use information only and not a substitute for professional medical or maternity care.

What is Maryam Phool?
Maryam Phool (also spelled Mariam Phool or Mariyam Phool, and known in Arabic as Kaff Maryam, كف مريم) is the dried desert plant Anastatica hierochuntica, called the Rose of Jericho or resurrection plant in English. It curls into a dry ball in drought and slowly opens when placed in water, which is why it became a symbol of hope and resilience.
Are Maryam Phool, Mariam Phool, Mariyam Phool and Maryam ka phool the same?
Yes, these are spelling variants of the same name. Maryam ka phool (مریم کا پھول, मरियम का फूल) means "Maryam's flower" in Urdu and Hindi, and Mariyam poovu is the Malayalam/Tamil form. Kaff Maryam means "Maryam's hand" in Arabic. Some sources note that a different plant is sometimes also called the flower of Maryam, so always check the botanical name: ours is Anastatica hierochuntica.
What is the price of Maryam Phool in India?
Our Maryam Phool (1 whole dried flower) is ₹650. Delivery is free on orders above ₹500 within India and usually takes 3–5 business days.
Where can I buy Maryam Phool (Maryam ka phool kahan milta hai)?
You can order it directly from this page and we deliver across India. For questions before you order, message us on WhatsApp.
What are the benefits of Maryam Phool?
Traditionally, Maryam Phool is valued as a spiritual keepsake and a symbol of hope, ease and patience, and in folk medicine it has been used by women around pregnancy and childbirth. Published reviews of Kaff Maryam describe its chemical constituents and some laboratory and animal findings, but there is not enough human evidence to promise any health result. We do not claim it treats or cures any condition.
Is Maryam Phool safe in pregnancy?
Please speak to your doctor or midwife first. Maryam Phool is traditionally linked with uterine activity and labour, and herbs can affect pregnancy, especially earlier on. Do not use it to try to start labour, and never replace medical or maternity care with it.
Is Maryam Phool mentioned in the Qur'an or Hadith? What does Islam say?
No. The plant is not mentioned in the Qur'an or in authentic hadith. Scholarly sources such as IslamQA state that there is no basis in Islam for the belief that the flower opening near a pregnant woman eases childbirth, and that relying on it in place of trust in Allah and proper care is not correct. Using a plant as a herbal remedy, where it is safe, is a separate matter of ordinary medicine.
How do you use Maryam Phool?
Place the whole dried flower in a bowl of clean room-temperature water and watch it open, usually within a few hours. Remove it, let it dry and curl up again, and it can be reused. We do not give drinking or ingestion instructions on this page; any herbal use should be guided by a qualified practitioner.
Does the Maryam Phool really open in water?
Yes. It is a resurrection plant: when dry, its branches curl inward, and in water they unfold and turn greenish. This is a natural response of the dried plant and can be repeated several times.
Is Maryam Phool the same as Maryam Booti or Kaff Maryam?
Maryam Booti (booti means herb) and Kaff Maryam are other names for the same Anastatica hierochuntica plant in Urdu and Arabic.
